Jarvis [WIA Perryville, Ky., Oct. 8, 1862], 18th Ohio Vols., Chattanooga, Tenn., Feb. 22, 1865, in part: "…we have glorious news…of the occupation of Charleston and Wilmington…a grand salute from one hundred pound guns is to be fired. I wish you could hear the old fellows. They are the best emissaries[for] a peace mission. They talk to traitors in the right style…".
