Autograph Letter Signed, "W. Lewis" 6-1/2p. octavo, Devalls Bluffs, Arkansas, November 5, 1864, it reads in part: "...to day we are to have a Grand Review of the entire Forces here at this Place. General Steele will be the Reviewing Officer. He has the command of this Department & makes his Head Quarters in Little Rock...went...to Morganza La, where we stayed near one month, while we were there we was out on a scout of ten days & was fired into every day with the exceptions of two days by the infernal Bushwhackers, but fortunately enough but few suffered of the consequences..." VG.
