Lot of 4 Autograph Letters Signed "E.R. Goodwich" confirming the death of a New York soldier. Each letter is one page, quarto, and is sent to Rose Cole at Crescent, New York from Washington, D.C. on the pre-printed letterhead of the Nw York Military State Agency. The letters were written between June 27 and July 26, 1865. A letter of July 11, 1865 says it all: "Papers recently coming into this office furnish the following information Died at Andersonville Ga. Sept. 30th/64, E.B. Cole Co 'B' 14th Regt. N.Y. H'y Artillery. Without a doubt this man was your brother...". With one pre-printed cover, VF condition.
