A good war-date Florida Civil War document being a field printed version of General Orders, No. 17, 1p. 8vo., "Headquarters, District of Florida, Dept. of the South, Jacksonville, Fla., Mar. 28, 1864", reading, in part: "Agreeable to instruction from the Dept. Headquarters, Brig. Gen. Seymour hereby relinquishes command of the District. In bidding farewell to the brave and devoted officers and soldiers…(many of whom he has led in battle) he desires to thank them in the warmest manner…". Issued and signed in type by R. M.
