War-date albumen photograph , 7-3/4”x6”, of a group of Naval cadets in Newport, Rhode Island, 1862. With later typed ID reading “A group of Naval Cadets from Annapolis Md. who chose to fight for the North when the Civil War broke out and thereby founded the Newport Naval Training Station. John Coombe Pegram was the Great Grandfather of Ensigh Waldo Newcomer who was commissioned here March 6, 1953.” Fine condition.
