Two letters from the same soldier, accompanied by the original transmittal envelope from which the stamp has been torn: includes: July 1, 1865, includes interesting content about the trip to Baltimore, some of the sights along the way and this interesting note: "Washington monument is splendid. We halted to rest near where it is and I went over there but did not go up. It costs 15 cts. & money is something we have not seen lately."...plus; July 3, 1865, discusses provost guard duty in Baltimore and the "surplus of ladies in the city, the men have gone off to the war." Interesting content in both letters. (2 letters plus envelope)
