Newspaper “THE NATCHEZ COURIER” Natchez, Mississippi, March 14, 1865, 4pp. folio, with report of the 2nd inauguration of Abraham Lincoln as President of the United States. Including his “Inaugural Address” and the procession, etc. Also with report on Thomas Clements and his plans for assassinating Lincoln on Inauguration Day. Further reports on “The Panic in Richmond” stating that “Congress seems anxious to adjourn ! by the Constitution it is not denied that they havea legal right to fly from their posts, and seek safety at their homes. So has General Lee the right to surrender his army in the morning and prove traitor to his past glory and his country’s trust....” Much more war news. Interesting. Very good condition.
