Rare Stereoview of a crowd gathered in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Sprigfield, Il., on May 4, 1865. The view has a photographers label on the verso, which reads "Relating to the home and funeral of Abraham Lincoln at Springfield, ILL. No. 7 Schreiber & Flover, 818 Arch St". This is one of several photographs taken by this photographer of funeral scenes in Springfield. This image shows a large crowd on a hill, most probably at the site of the temporary tomb Lincoln was placed in. Below the crowd white horses can be seen, likely the horses that brought the President's casket to the cemetery. This is a very scarce view, and the first example we have seen offered at aiction. There is some light wear to the mount edge, else fine.
