August 18, 1863, Union "GENERAL ORDERS No. 53," 8.25" x 5," Choice Near Mint. Printed and issued "In the Field, Texas..." at the Headquarters of the Twenty-Fifth Army Corps on a single sheet with a blank back. Includes four orders: “1. Release from Duty of a surgeon in the 45th U.S. Colored Troops./ 2. Announcement of Surgeon E.P. Morong as Chief Medical Officer of the 25th./ 3. Release of all enlisted men on detached duty whose term of service is about to expire./ 4. Order to send the names of all white enlisted men of the 25th to Headquarters./ Many collectors attempt to acquire General Orders from as many different states as possible. Texas is one of the tougher states to find.
