Large inscribed signed photograph from Pope Benedict XV (1854-1922) to New York Herald Publisher William T. Dewart. Dated November 8, 1921, Vactican, 16 1/2" x 21" (sight), framed. His policy in WWI was one of the strictest neutrality, founded the Vatican service for prisoners of war, and during his pontificate France and England resumed diplomatic relations. The inscription, in French, thanks Dewart for his service to humanity. A superb large format signed image.
