Autograph letter signed, 1 1/2 pgs., March 26, 1926, to John Nitchie, New York, fine. The second wife of President Benjamin Harrison sends an autograph to a collector. The letter reads in part "I am enclosing an autograph of my husband, as you requested, for your collection of our Presidents. Yours Truly, Mary Lord Harrison, March 2, 1926". President Harrison's autograph, which was cut from a check, is affixed to the top of the first page. Their marriage on April 6, 1896, caused some controversy, with Mary being 25 years younger that Benjamin. His children from his first marriage did not attend the wedding due to their disapproval. Harrison's Vice President Levi Morton and several former cabinet members were among the three dozen guests. Mary died in New York City in 1948 at the age of 89. A fine letter, and autograph.
