Two passes from the estate of Richard Strout. Strout was a reporter fo the Christain Science Monitor, and covered the White House starting with the Harding administration through the Reagan years. These two passes, dated November 24th & 25th, 1963, allowed the bearer to enter the Capitol Building on that Sunday and Monday. On Sunday, the 24th, JFK's body was taken from the White House to the Capitol Building. The large procession included world dignitaries, being lead by the Presidents widow and family members. In the rotunda the casket rested in the center, under the dome, surrounded by world figures, family, close friends, and of course, the press, Strout being one in attendance. Eulogies were read, as well as Mrs. Kennedy and her daughter Caroline who both knelt at the casket and kissed the flag that rested upon it. The following day thousands passed by the casket as it lay in repose. A scarce pair of JFK funeral press passes.
