CUYLER, Abraham, (1742-1810) Last British Loyalist Mayor of Albany New York (1770-1778).Manuscript Document Signed “Abrm. C. Cuyler”, Alabany. 11” x 6,” with nice red wax seal. the governor certifies that Peter Van Bergen is a Freeman and enjoy “ all the Rights, Privileges, Franchises ... advantages granted ...” That official status would entitle Peter Van Bergen to the full rights of Albany residency. In 1775, he contributed for the relief of Ticonderoga. His first ward property was configured on the assessment rolls in 1779. After the war, he was accorded a land bounty right in conjunction with the Albany militia regiment.
