Manuscript Document on fine-laid paper, embossed "O & H" brand, no date or location, 12.5" x 8." Signed three times by J.M. Roberts, Captain, Co. "E," 3rd Cavalry M.S.M., who drafts three copies of the same certification on the same page: "I hereby certify on honor that on the 23rd day of Sept. 1864 I lost all my books and papers by capture and that on that account I cannot furnish clothing accounts from Feby. 29th 1864 to the 30th day of Sept 1864." Page with a few ink stains, normal folds. Interesting content, from a Union Officer who apparently survived capture--but who lost his books as a result!
