A complete and authentic issue of the Harper’s Weekly, August 17, 1861, 16pp., disbound, VG. From the interior, a full page engraving “STAMPEDE OF SLAVES FROM HAMPTON TO FORTRESS MONROE,” shows the mass exodus under moon light. There is an accompanying report. Then, on the centerspread, an important engraving, “Uniforms of the Confederate Army” shows the wide regional variations. Tightly trimmed at top, minor margin chips.
