Reads in full: "Tionesta, Sept. 14, 1865, Dear Web, Enclosed you'll find the blank form for a "Power of Attorney" accompanied by a letter of introduction to the "Gentlemen" at Washington who are about to undertake the job of securing for you a certificate of nonendebtedness. I'd write to them soon and tell them to hurry the matter through at the lowest figures possible under the circumstances. Please go according to the directions proscribed on the Power of Attorney. My kindest regards to Bell. Wishing you success in getting what rightfully belongs to you. I'll close for the present. Write soon. Truly yours & c, H.M. Munsell". Included with the letter are both documents mentioned. Munsell was decorated for gallantry with the Kearney Cross for his heroics at Chancellorsville, and was awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroics at Gettysburg.
