Fantastic, 1897 Black Americana, Stereoview Photograph featuring an African American Poker Party. While surely the photographer was attempting to make this a “comic” view, it actually is quit a wonderful scene with the participants smiling and happy and certainly enjoying themselves. This wonderful view is titled on the mount "The Darktown Euchre Party". In the Image four Black men sit around a poker table playing cards. There is a bottle of whiskey on the table as well as a sizable pile of dollar bills in the pot. Two women and a charming little girl look on. The faces of each of those pictured tell a story all their own - it really is a great image. ... plus, This wonderful view is titled in the negative "No 16073 - Honey does yo lub yo man?". In the Image the “Deacon Jones” presides over the ceremony reading from a book with his right hand raised in blessing. The beautiful young bride wears a wonderful wedding dress and a charming little girl hold the train of the dress. Her two women (likely the maid of honor and the mother of the bride) stand to the right wearing their “Sunday finest” while the husband to be wears a brand new suit (sales tag still attached). The faces of each of those pictured tell a story all their own - it really is a great image.
