Black Liberation, A Special Edition of the New University Conference Newsletter, published May 20, 1970, Chicago, 36p. issue, 8-1/2” x 11”, wraps. Front cover image of Seale with caption, "Free Bobby," continues in the interior with articles concerning education, culture, and history of the blacks in America. Crudely printed as a mailer. Bobby Seale along with Dr. Huey P. Newton confounded the Black Panther Party For Self Defense in 1966. Seale was tried in 1970, in the New Haven Black Panther trials, for the murder of Alex Rackley. The trials were widely decried as an example of political repression by such relative moderates as Yale University president Kingman Brewster, Jr., and were accompanied by a large demonstration in New Haven, Connecticut, on May Day, 1970. Seale was acquitted by a hung jury.
