A good Confederate Daily Richmond Examiner newspaper, Wednesday Morning, Feb. 3, 1864, 2pp. large folio, articles include: "The Enemy at Newbern…Arrest of Ex-Senator Toombs in Savannah…The Currency Bill…Movements in Mississippi…General Grant's Winter Operations"…and, of course, "The Yankee Army-Enlistment of Negro Soldiers", that reads, in part: "In a debate in the Yankee Senate Mr. Howe…thought the North had over-estimated the resources of the country…Mr. Grimes…said he would like to know the number of colored soldiers enlisted…he understood we had fifty thousand colored soldiers in service…". The advertisements include a reward announcement for a run away slave. Much more interesting content. Irregular margins, else VG.
