A good war-date Ohio governor's letter, 1p. 4tp., signed by Governor DAVID TOD (1805-1868), as governor of Ohio, on "The State of Ohio, Executive Department" letterhead, Columbus, [Ohio], Nov. 28, 1862 [actually 1861] addressed to Col. Nelson H. Vanvorhes, 92nd Ohio while his regiment was stationed at Gauley, [West] Virginia. The letter reads, in full: "I have made application of Geo. P. Jarvis, as requested in yours of the 12th inst. and doubt not it will be granted." Interestingly, Jarvis made application to transfer to the 92nd several times in late 1861 as we sold the colonel's letter in our last catalog. Some archival tape reinforcements affecting the verso with some paper loss, else VG.
