War-date Union soldier's letter, 3pp. 4to., written by Corp. George P. Jarvis [WIA Perryville, Ky., Oct. 8, 1862], (signed George), Co. C, 3rd Ohio Vols., Huntsville, Ala., July 20, 1862, in part: "…we had a terrible storm of wind and rain…which although it lasted but a few minutes made considerable devilment. Not a single tent was left standing…one poor fellow of Co. H was struck on the back of the head by a flying limb and severely hurt…the little affair at Murfreesboro caused some little excitement…the men of this division are extremely angry with the War Department for taking Gen. Mitchell away from them and putting Buell in charge of the army here. Buell seems to be making it his business to tear down everything that Mitchell built up and is disliked as fervently as Mitchell was beloved…Tucker has deserted but will probably be retaken…". VG
