War-date Union soldier's letter, 1 1/2pp. 4to., written by Pvt. Ephraim W. Frost [POW Winchester, Va., 6/13/63; WIA Piedmont, Va., 6/05/64 & DOD 1/15/65], Co. I, 116th Ohio Vols., "Camp at Martinsburg, Va., Oct. 13, 1863," in part: "…the election had passed off quietly here. Thare was a few votes for Old Val[landigham] but I don't know how many…they hant got it counted out yet. Thare wont be over 5 or 6 for him…outside of our company…we have orders to have 3 days rations cooked…some of the boys [are] as tite as a fiddlers bitch today. They [are] about the worst of anything I have ever seen for some time…E. W. Frost…". Frost's phonetic spelling has been corrected. VG
