War-date Union soldier's letter, 2pp. 8vo., written by Sgt. Moses M. Ordway, 40th Mass. Vols., Chesapeake Hospital, Ward 6, Fortress Monroe, Va., Aug. 27, 1863 to his brother, in part: "…it is a nice place here. The hospital was formerly the Chesapeake Female Seminary…is a healthy a place as there is in the United States. We have pretty good care and nice spring beds…your Bro. Moses M. Ordway…". The original stamped transmittal cover is also included. VG
