Small archive of 5 letters, approximately 36 pages, octavo, compiled by Lt. Louis Sands, U.S.N. regarding the unorthodox 1864 enlistment of one Reverend Jennings. Apparently Jennings, an English minister, entered the Marine Corps as a chaplain without authorization to do so. Jennings was denounced by a Mr. Morgan who, in turn, was accused by Jennings of " trying to seduce a young lady of only 15 or 16 years of age." Light stains and aging, else Fine condition overall.
