A good war-date Union soldier's rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner, 4pp. 8vo., written out by Pvt. James B. Sterling, Co. E, 7th Conn. Volunteers who was mortally wounded in action during the battle of Olustee, Florida on Feb. 20, 1864. He died five days later at Beaufort's General Hospital. Sterling pens the complete poem and then adds at the bottom "End I Hope." Not signed, but from his personal letter collection. VG
