Henry Williad CDV, Henry Ulke, Washington, DC back imprint. Henry and his brother Edwin Owned the hotel originally, and it stayed in the family until 1946. President Lincoln stayed at the Williard prior to his inauguration in February 1861. As note, Henry Ulke and his brother were living at the Petersen House the night President Lincoln was shot. It is said that Henry Ulke's brother Julian took the famous photograph of Lincoln's death bed at the Petersen House.
