1865 diary owned by Nellie Randolph. Diary is in fine condition with some light wear. The diary contains content pertaining to everyday life in the mid 19th Century....attending meetings, visiting friends, etc. On April 28th Nellie attended church, her entry reads "Went to meeting. Abe Lincoln's funeral sermon was preached in the afternoon". After President Lincoln's assassination the entire nation went into deep mourning, holding church services and having days of mourning.
