LIVERMORE, Mary A. (1820-1905). American Journalist and Advocate of Women’s Rights. After the Civil War, she devoted herself to the Promotion of Women’s Suffrage and the Temperance Movement, starting her own Woman's Christian Temperance Union (WCTU) Chapter in her hometown of Melrose Massachusetts. Autograph Letter Signed, “Mary A. Livermore,” April 24 1894, with its original stamped envelope, addressed to Mr Walter Babb. This letter asking for permission from Mr. Babb, if the WCTU can reserve a table at the Temple of Honor Hall on May 10th, for Tea, and is also dated April 24th, 1894. Bright, fresh and boldly written with a huge 3.25” long signature “Mary A Livermore.”
