Two complete and authentic newspapers, New York Semi-Weekly Tribune, January 13, 1860, 8pp., disbound. Taking nearly all of the front page is the report with stacked column headlines, “HORRIBLE CATASTROPHE!, FULL PARTICULARS, 182 PERSONS KILLED. HUNDREDS BURIED ALIVE.” The report details the collapse of the Pemberton Mills, Lawrence Massachusetts. The Pemberton Mill was a large factory in Lawrence, Massachusetts, which collapsed without warning on January 10, 1860 in what is likely "the worst industrial accident in Massachusetts history" and "one of the worst industrial calamities in American history." ... plus, Complete and authentic newspaper, New York Semi-Weekly Tribune, February 3, 1860, 8pp., disbound. Front page stacked headlines, “TERRIBLE CALAMITY! Burning of Tenement House, Geat Loss of Life.” Two columns taken with the detail. Both issues disbound, rough at spine, else VG.
