October 1, 1864, Civil War "Muster-Out Roll" for a Private from Co. "D" 9th Infantry Regmt., Minnesota Vols., Very Fine. 10.5" x 31" partly printed document, completed in manuscript on ledger paper, separated along one vertical fold. Horace B. Sayre, a private, aged 37 years, was mustered out of Co. "D," 9th Minnesota Infantry, after serving 3 years. He was mustered out so that he could accept a commission as 2nd Lieutenant in Co. "A" 43rd Infantry, Missouri Vols, "to fill an original vacancy." Signed by "Ben Sharp," Captain and Assistant Commander of Musters. Lightly toned document with several folds and some splits along the folds. Aged, fragile document with sharp, brown-inked writing.
