Raynors HCA 2015-05
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/21/2015
This studio portrait, taken during the waning days of the Civil War or shortly thereafter, carries a W. L. Germon's Temple of Art, Philadlphia backmark. The subjects were born slaves in North Carolina and would spend much of their lives as performing as the "Two-Headed Nightingale." Despite enduring every possible social disadvantage, the McCoy sisters became accomplished ladies and were able to retire with dignity. Very good condition.
