JACKSON, Andrew (1767-1845) Seventh President of the United States 1829-37, unsuccessful candidate in 1824 winning a plurality of votes but losing to John Quincy Adams by House decision, Major General and hero of War of 1812. "Old Hickory" was the first President to ride on a train in 1833, and survived the first attempted assassination of a President in 1835. Document Signed “Andrew Jackson” as President of the United States, on fine stately form, 1pp. 11-3/4”x15-1/4” January 9, 1834, being a patent for Eliphalet Nott for preventing the waste of heat in cooking stoves. With wax seal intact, additionaly signed by Louis Lane as Secretary of State. Fine condition.
