A complete and authentic issue of the Harper’s Weekly, June 1 1872, 16pp., disbound. From the front cover, a full page Nast wood engraving, with a cleaver twist of words “One Good Term Deserves Another,” shows Lady Columbia supporting Grant and Lincoln. VG.At the 1872 Republican National Convention the Republicans renominated incumbent President Ulysses S. Grant but nominated a new Vice-Presidential candidate, Henry Wilson. Others, who had grown weary of the corruption of the Grant administration, bolted to form the Liberal Republican Party, which nominated Horace Greeley. The Democrats nominated Greeley as well, on a fusion ticket. Grant and Wilson won the election of 1872.
