July 6, 1864, Honorable Discharge for Medical Disability, Washington, D.C., Choice Very Fine. Partly Printed Document, completed in manuscript, and signed by "Quincy B. Rochester" an "Additional Paymaster U.S. Army." "Special Orders, No. 165," issued by the Headquarters of the 2nd Army Corps, this document notes that Captain William J. Cole, 141st Pennsylvania Vols., "tendered his resignation on Surgeon's Certificate of Disability," received an honorable discharge, and pay of $495.88. Also signed by "Francis A. Walker," an Assistant Adjutant General. Toned and soiled sheet, with folds and tiny edge splits.
