A pair of Indian photographs to include, a stereoview of “Apache Indians at a game of cards” published by Continent Stereoscope Co.. ... plus a horizontal cabinet card image identified in pencil on the reverse “Apache sqaws on their ponies coming into San Carlos Reservation for their weekly rations.” c1880, slightly light, VGhe San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation, in southeastern Arizona, United States, was established in 1872 as a reservation for the Chiricahua Apache tribe.[1] Known in the late 1800s as "Hell's Forty Acres" due to myriad dismal health and environmental conditions, today's San Carlos Apaches successfully operate a Chamber of Commerce, the Apache Gold Casino, a Language Preservation program, a Culture Center, and a Tribal College.
