A complete issue of Harper’s Weekly, April 16, 1896, 18pp., VG. From the front cover, an expert illustration “An In-Door game of Hockey On Artificial Ice. Yale versus St. Nicholas ....” Then, from the interior a 1/2 page recap of the this specific action as well as the game. This very early for American hockey. The St. Nicholas Rink, was an indoor ice rink, in New York from 1896 until 1962. The rink was the second ice rink in North America utilizing mechanically frozen ice for its surface. The rink was the home of the St. Nicholas hockey club of the (New York) Amateur Hockey League. The league operated its first season in 1896–97
