Autograph Letter Signed, “Wm. M. Moore” 3p. octavo, Lebanon, Illinois, February 7, 1865, with cover addressed to his son at the MacDougal Hospital, at Fort Schuyler, in New York, and reads in part: “...Olivia Rattan died last Sunday evening...D.S. Osborn is dead, John Sparks is dead, Elijah Goodwin, Jack Coffel, Aid Davenport are dead, John Harris Brown has deserted,...There has been a great deal of excitement, here the past few days in regard to the Peace movement but it is all bosh at least and the way to get peace is to whip it out of them then we will have it all night. The call for 300,000 to be drafted the 15th Feb. this country will nothave any draft...We had a letter from Wilber a short time ago he captured a color bearer with his colors & Wilber has been ordered to Washington to take his flag...” VG.
