Card, LE GENERAL LUCIUS FAIRCHILD, 2 1/2" x 4", ca. 1880, Paris, France. Civil War hero, Brigadier general Lucius Fairchild of Wisconsin, entered a life of public service after recovering from a severe wound taken at Gettysburg. He served as Wisconsin's governor from 1866 until 1872 then embarked on a diplomatic career. This calling card, oddly in French, shows Fairchild to be the Consul-General of the United States in France. Stains and pencil notations, else Good condition.
