U.S. Grant Album 4.25" x 5.5", containing a G.A.R. series, copyrighted 1886, of five unique wood engravings of Grant before and during the Civil War. They include a chest-up engraving of Grant in formal dress, Grant going off to war in 1861, his birthplace, schoolhouse, and his first "kept house," on horseback, in the Wilderness, 1864, and arranging the terms of surrender of Vicksburg with General Pemberton in 1863. The spine is broken and some of the pages are loose. Extremely rare.
