War-date Confederate soldiers letter by Robert M. Rucker, 2nd Tennessee Infantry, 1p. , Atlanta, August 12th, 1864, VG. In part, “You said in your last that you have written me a great many letters per “Flag of Truce” but have rec’d no answers ... have written dozens .... we have become so seasoned to exposure that we can stand anything .... Wm. Betty was wounded in the flesh of the neck ... Doc Littleton was wounded also ... George Wilkenson was wounded the same time mortally ... all of Company C of Fanners Regt. were captured .... Col. Reuben Butler was wounded but escaped ...”
