Confederate Imprint, General Orders No. 51, Adjutant and Inspector general’s Office, Richmond, June 10, 1864, 28pp., string bound, light foxing, VG. Despite the best efforts of the CSA government, the army for the most part was made up of non-professionals and temporary soldiers as eveidenced here. The document lists the resignations of officers from various regiments, printing their name, rank, unit, and date of the resignation. There are well over 1200 resignations noted.
