P&W #805 Resolutions adopted by Bratton's Brigade, South Carolina Volunteers, January 30th, 1865. [House of Representatives.] [Richmond, 1865.] 3p.This resolution is a public call for continued support of the war effort: "...it becomes the citizen soldiery of South Carolina to re-affirm the sacred principles of State Sovereignty and Independence, which their State was the first to announce; to reject once again all terms of union and affiliation with a base and unprincipled foe..." The resolution announces a renewed devotion to the "great principles of State Sovereignty and Constitutional Liberty, which lie at the base of this Revolution." It also praises President Jefferson Davis, General Robert E. Lee, and the "lovely women of the South." Great content illustrates the feelings of Confederate patriots even in the darkest days of the war. Bratton's Brigade was the only one to survive the war as an organized unit.
