From the 25th issue, backpage “Resolution No. 37 ... Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United Stales of America in Congress assembled, That the thanks of Congress and of the American people are due, and are hereby tendered, to Lieutenant J. L. Worden, of the United States navy, and to the officers and men of the iron-clad gunboat Monitor, under his command, for the skill and gallantry exhibited by them in the late remarkable battle between the Monitor and the rebel iron-clad steamer Merimack”.
