We had to come here to build block houses. We have built too of them now and we are expecting the rebels to come in again soon… as for James I hant seen him for too months. He is at Clarkes burg with the rest of the company. There is hardly anything going on in West Virginia then building block houses and throwing up fortifications [and] making ready for the rebels. All the boys here is in good hart. They will give them the best likes they can…till I rite again, Nathaniel Lewis…direct to Cornwallis, Richy Co., West Va., in care of the Capt. W. H.
