Fine, original Civil War tintype photo portrait. Three quarter seated view of young infantryman wearing frock coat, kepi…with a large Colt M1851 "Navy" percussion revolver jammed through his waist belt and holding a model 1842 Springfield musket in hand. Although he is wearing his belt inverted (upside down) his large, oval brass belt plate is in prominent view with the letters "OVM." (letters weak in photo, but visible on close view.) Tintype is sharp and clear. Approx. 2½ x 3 with handsome gilt frame. Exc. +.
