Fine, sharp, detailed Civil War tintype photo 2"x3"of seated Union cavalryman (with piping on his jacket tinted bright yellow) wearing kepi on which cross saber insignia is in evidence; holding hand on his M1860 cavalry saber. Wide waist belt with eagle and wreath belt plate. Frame and handle of the Colt very conspicuous. Extremely fine with original gilt frame; encased in original fancy hard rubber case with center panel both sides of U.S. shield stars; banner above "UNION" fancy border. Velvet lined. Exc. to mint.
