A complete and authentic issue of the New York Semi-Weekly Tribune, November 14, 1865, 8pp., untrimmed, never bound, small fractures at spine, VG. From the front page and continueing on the back page for 4 full columns, a very detail report “Execution of Henry Wirz. How the Condemned Met His Death - Review of His Life - Diary of the Prisoner.” Henry Wirz (1823-1865) was a Swiss-born Confederate officer, best known for his command of Camp Sumter, the Confederate prisoner of war camp near Andersonville, Georgia. He was tried and executed after the war for conspiracy and murder relating to his command of the camp.
