The signature, Col. P. Wyndham" is on the front mount with blotting of the 'P'. The Brady backmark is on the reverse. Taken prisoner by Confederate forces on 6 June 1862, he was exchanged for prisoners of the Confederacy only a few weeks later,[3] and in August 1862 commanded the 1st New Jersey Cavalry at the Battle of Thoroughfare Gap.[4] On 9 June 1863 Wyndham was wounded at the Battle of Brandy Station, and thereafter he served in Washington, D. C.
