Bronze medal is 2-1/4” x 1/4” thick, fine condition with an exceptional strong sculpture showing Lady Liberty offering relief to two Federal soldiers. The image is surrounded with the words “We give our wealth for those who give their health for us". On the obverse, the piece is identified with the words, "In Commemoration of the Great Central Fair of the U.S. Sanitary Commission, held at Philadelphia, June 1864". In addition is a 4” x 7” letterhead with an image of the medal and address of the Fair. Of course these were sold to raise money for the soldiers.
