Commemorative medallion, 1-3/8” diamter with bust of “Gov. H.W. Allen, Shreveport Louisiana, ‘Alone, Unaided, Here we Stand’”. And on the obverse, “Holiday in Dixie,” with soldiers “Lowering Last Confederate Flag, May 26, 1865.” 1965, Fine. Shreveport was the last Confederate capital of Louisiana. And the Caddo Parish was the last place in America to lower the Confederate flag over land when the South lost the War in 1865. Gov. Henry Watkins Allen served as Governor of Confederate Louisiana, held territories of Louisiana, and continued fighting even after General Lee surrendered.
